Ring Road School, Kenya, Africa (Continued)

The school borders on a slum area and many of these children are coming out of absolutely deplorable conditions. Many have lost one or both parents to AIDS. Some live with family members who are drug dealers. Drugs and crime are rampant in the slum area.
But amazingly, these kids have their goals set on the future. They are training to be leaders and role models for their comunity. One of the boys, Elvis, scored highest on academic test scores in his state (Nyanza province) and 11th in the entire country! Both of his parents died of HIV and Elvis lives with a sister who sells drugs. The teachers at the school often take Elvis home
to stay with them on the holidays so he doesn't have to return to his home environment. Lynette, who wants to be a nurse, scored 5th in the state and 21st in the country. Her mother is HIV positive. When Lynette received her test scores she came to Jared Ochiambo crying. "I won't have a future, because I have no support for high school!" Jared says it is hard to say "NO" to the kids. One grandmother cried and refused to leave the office until her grandchild was accepted into the school. This school gives hope for the future and help in the present. The children receive 2 meals a day, 6 days a week. With your help, these children WILL have a future .. . Click HERE to help. . .
