In Memory of Carlos Moncada and Sandra Branch
Sandra Branch: November 22, 1935 - June 24, 2007
Sandra was a retired English/Spanish teacher and worked as a translator and proof-reader for CRF since 2001. When errors were spotted, she advised us in such a loving, gentle way, giving a much appreciated mini-grammar lesson. She moved to Boulder, CO, area a year ago to be near her son, where she continued to manage the CRF college students' files and correspondence. We were aware she had some health issues a few months ago, but just recently learned she had pancreatic cancer. We are, indeed, so saddened by her passing. This precious lady was an achiever and an amazing person to know. She had such an infectious zest for life and has touched all of our lives in a way that we'll never forget! Please pray for her family. - Judy Latham, co-worker

A Farewell to Carlos Moncada
Carlos supervised CRF projects in Honduras for over 20 years. He was always very active preaching, teaching electrical skills, building churches and, after Hurricane Mitch, 16 houses for those in need. The circumstances of his death at 62 years of age were difficult, as doctors found it necessary to amputate his legs. Please keep his wife Janeth and his children in your prayers as they continue to labor for the Lord.

From Carlos' daughter:
Thank you very much for your beautiful words of encouragement. The truth is that this has been a very difficult trial. Personally it was a very painful experience but in the end one can see God's purpose in everything. At the end, my dad's health was improving. On Thursday, June 28, the doctor gave me the good news that his kidneys were working again. We were overjoyed. He opened his eyes all day and saw his family. His face was full of peace and we were so happy. We were willing and ready to take care of him for the rest of his life and show him a great deal of love, but it is possible that although the family that loved him so much was able to deal with this trial, he was not.
For this reason the Lord took care of his wounds and on Friday, June 29, he decided to take my dad into His arms. My dad lived all his life for that moment, the encounter with the Lord. We have no doubt of where he is and this fills us with peace and comfort. He is super happy and celebrating in paradise, the paradise that he imagined and was always longing to know. All I can do is thank the Lord, Glory to God! for having lent me the best dad in the world for 26 years! The Lord could not have given me a better example of love for our Heavenly Father than what my father had for Him.
During this trial, we were never alone. The Lord kept us in the hollow of His hands and we were able to reflect on the love of God with our church family, our grand family. The day of his funeral was a very special time; in reality my dad was no longer there, but it was very impressive how many people accompanied us until the very last moment. There were also many preachers, who spoke about the testament of my father's life; having started seven congregations, without salary or a degree, is impressive.
The Lord was glorified through his son, Carlos. I know that our Heavenly Father is very proud of his son, Carlos. That is why I cannot imagine how many jewels must be on his crown. Thank you for everything, for all of your love and all of your prayers. We know very well that we depend on God and if not for the prayers for strength from all of our brothers in Christ from all over the world we would not be able to overcome this trial. We miss my dad and are reminded of him in every corner of the house, in the neighborhood and everything. He continues to be in our hearts and will be there forever, until we see him again, not with a body ravaged by death but with his body whole.
As a family we all learned something from this trial. We want to continue the legacy that my father has left each one of us. My brothers, Luis and Carlos, are leading the church at Reniery Funez and working very hard so that the followers will continue to move forward. Interestingly, in these last few Sundays there have been many baptisms for the glory and honor of the Lord.
My dad had saved some money to change the facade of the church building in Reniery Funez; the money is coming together to complete the changes. I can't forget the day my dad was admitted in an emergency to the hospital. He called me to ask about the money needed to add a second floor to the church in Reniery as we could no longer fit in the building. It is a comfort to me to know that up until the last moment of his life, my dad was concerned about the work of the Lord. As a family we want to continue the work that he did and complete his plans, if it is possible for CRF to supply the money to construct the second floor of the building. Remember that we love you very much. With love, -Karla Moncada

Note: $6,000 is needed for the materials to construct the second floor on the church. The church members have committed to provide the labor. 100% of funds given for this need will sent.
