Zimbabwe-Restoring Childhood to Children

"God bless you for the wonderful work you are doing." -Soneni, Khayelihle Children's Village

Their mother abandoned them in the care of their mentally ill father, a drunkard who would go for days without coming home.

Three-year-old Molen (far left ) was "mother" to her two sisters: nine-month-old Moreblessing (right) and 2-year-old sister, Monalisa (near left).

Some neighbors realized the children's plight and made a report to the police. The police failed to locate Molen's parents. Molen and her sisters were taken to Mpilo Hospital where they were admitted for safe keeping. The police and the Zimbabwe Department of Social Welfare contacted Khayelihle Children's Village (KCV). Molen and her sisters joined the KCV family on April 6, 2005.
"She has finally realised that she doesn't need to be the 'mother' in the family anymore. . . "
Now Molen and her sisters are very happy, with good food, clothing, friends of their age to play with and quite a number of "grown-up" mothers to give the love and care they lacked at home
