Haiti Earthquake Relief
Thanks for relieving the pain . . . CRF efforts to relieve suffering continue:
"Things are very hard in Haiti. Those that had jobs have lost them. Those that are working are not getting paid. Medical needs are growing as infections and sickness grow from overcrowded tent camps. Aftershocks have been hitting pretty regularly the last 24 hours. The kids are having a difficult time sleeping. We continue to pray and reassure. But...we have been able to share over 100,000 lbs of food with 11 churches of Christ and many other local groups. We have received 48 tents and a handful of tarps that were also shared. We have been able to help hundreds in mini medical clinics that have been held by the groups from Estes. We are expecting two containers this week with food and supplies. We have 5000-6400 tents coming in Fri. or Sat. This is a joint effort with CRF, Harding University and Manna Global. To date since the earthquake we have had 21 baptisms. Last Sunday night we had 300+ folks attend service." -Roberta Edwards
Roberta Edwards (see cover story of Jan/Feb 2010 issue of CHRISTIAN WOMAN magazine) and CRF have been working in Haiti for over a decade. Thanks for helping in Haiti!
Your support to Christian Relief Fund is truly making a difference in the lives of the Haitians who have been devastated by the earthquake. I wanted to assure you that 100% of the money you have given is being used to help the victims of this disaster.
Let me tell you what is happening through CRF in Haiti because of your generosity. First of all, we have been bringing in food from two sources to two places in Port-au-Prince. We had a feeding program and children’s work there before the earthquake which was overseen by Roberta Edwards. CRF has been funding a delivery of food, water, and medicine from the Dominican Republic approximately every other day. This has been done in partnership with Manna International ministries that has also coordinated medical teams in our work there. In addition some of the children who were previously supported by our works in the Dominican Republic have now grown up and are overseeing deliveries of food and water to another church and feeding program there. It is so rewarding to see the children of CRF who have been helped for so many years now helping others.
We also have works in the northern part of Haiti. Our work in Cap-Hatian has been distributing food to Port-au-Prince. And now thousands of refugees are arriving in Cap-Hatian because of the devastation in the southern area. We have also started feeding programs for the evacuees there. The government has provided housing in a really large gym, and we are distributing food there.
Huge rains are about to come to Haiti that are going to cause other problems. We have been told that more people could die from a lack of clean water than the earthquake. Therefore, we are partnering with Global Samaritan Ministries and bringing in water purification systems. We also are bringing in around 7000 tents this week to provide shelter before the rains arrive.
We have some other works going there, but I just wanted to give you a taste of what we are doing. Thanks for your support. It is helping. This tragedy will last for a long time, and we plan on helping for the long haul. You can be sure that any future help that you give will be used frugally and provide real help.
You are making a difference with the lost and the least!
Under Grace,
Milton Jones
President of the Board
There were many people and places we were able to get into and talk with because of the relationships our faithful native missionaries have built over many years here. CRF is doing a great work in Haiti and we are able to meet needs that would otherwise remain unfilled. Your giving is saving lives! Please click here to help. 100% of the donations given for Haiti Earthquake Relief will be used to aid these who are suffering in this extemely poor country.
